Casavecchia

Casavecchia is a mysterious vine; little is known of its origins. It is said to be an old plant that survived epidemics of powdery mildew and phylloxera, found according to testimonies of old farmers near an ancient ruin in Pontelatone. This vine is emerging, showing characteristics of extraordinary quality. The plant compared to other varieties has a low yield due to low fertility per bud, obviously little quantity equals quality. When ripe, the grapes have a high concentration of anthocyanins and low acidity, resulting in a wine with a strong temperament.

Casavecchia follows the same winemaking process as Pallagrello, but obviously the characteristics of the grape variety give rise to a different wine, which has distinct fruity characteristics, scents of underbrush jams, particularly wild strawberries and currants. Ruby-red in color with purplish highlights, this product intrigues consumers because of its rusticity.
